Reading Counts and Lexile Number

Each quarter students must read Reading Counts books and take a 10 question, multiple choice test to
test their comprehension of the book.This test is called a Reading Counts test.  The test can be
taken only at school.  Students have access to the computers to take the test daily. 
For each grading period students must pass a set number of books.  The books in our school
library are marked by color band according to the books reading level.  Each student is aware
of their reading level and lexile range.
 
Lexile Range Numbers:
Each student is given their lexile number range at the beginning of the year.  This is a readability
level at which your child can be a successful reader. In order to check a books lexile number you
can type in the title at the following address.  www.lexile.com
 
 
 
Book Goals:
Fall  2 Books - November 12th
Winter  3 Books - February 28th
Spring 3 Books - May 29th
 
 
Lexile Levels
Grade 1    100-400
Grade 2    300-600
Grade 3    500-800
Grade 4    600-900
Grade 5    700-1000
Grade 6    800-1050
Grade 7-8 850-1150
Grade 9+  1000+
