My name is Trish O'Connor, and I am the teacher-librarian at Hallett Elementary School. My main pages are located on the Hallett site, under "Academics" and "library".
A little about me: I grew up on Fairchild AFB, as my father was career Air Force. I attended Medical Lake School District from Kindergarten through 12th grade, and graduated from Medical Lake High School in 1988.
I attended Eastern Washington University, and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I also attended Whitworth University, earning my Master of Education degree with an emphasis in elementary education.
In 2014, I became a National Board Certified Teacher, completing my National Board certification in Early/Middle Childhood Literacy - English/Language Arts. National Board is a nationally recognized certification, similar to board certification for other professions.
My teaching career began in East Valley School District, where is taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. In 2013, I had the opportunity to come back home to MLSD to teach a grades 1/2 combo class at Michael Anderson Elementary. In 2016, I became the elementary teacher-librarian for the district, working at both MAE and Hallett. In 2018, I began as the full time teacher-librarian at Hallett.
I am thrilled to be back home in Medical Lake, serving the community and school district that gave me so much. My son, Jon, and his wife are both educators/coaches at Olympic High School, and they recently had my first grandson, Mickey James.
